How custom-size and made-to-order rugs work, and how wholesale orders from 1,500 m² are quoted, made and shipped.

This policy covers rugs made for you, and orders large enough to go through our wholesale team. Ordinary in-stock rugs are covered by the shipping, returns and payments policies. This policy forms part of our terms of sale.
A custom rug is made in a size, colour or design chosen for you. A made-to-order size is a size we weave on request that is not held in stock. Both are made after you order, so they work differently from a rug in stock.
Made-to-order sizes on the website are paid in full when you order; cash on delivery is not available for them. Quoted custom rugs are paid as the quote says, normally an advance of 50% before production and the balance before dispatch [[CLIENT TO CONFIRM]]. Rupee prices include GST, and dollar orders are exports, as set out in the payments policy.
The lead time is on the rug page or in your quote, counted from the day you approve the sample or, if there is none, the day you pay. Our working figures are 30 to 45 days for hand-tufted and flatweave rugs and 90 to 150 days for hand-knotted rugs [[CLIENT TO CONFIRM]]. These are estimates: hand weaving depends on the weavers, the wool and the weather, and we tell you as soon as we expect a delay.
A handmade rug is measured after it is finished and can differ from the ordered size by up to 3% [[CLIENT TO CONFIRM]]. Dye lots vary slightly, and a large rug shows gentle colour changes across the field (abrash). These are part of the craft, not faults. A rug outside the stated tolerance, or one that does not match the approved sample, is a fault and we will put it right at our cost.
You can change or cancel a custom order until production begins; after that it cannot be changed, because the rug is already being woven or cut. The cancellation policy has the cut-off and refund. A custom rug cannot be returned for a change of mind, but we will repair, replace or refund it if it arrives damaged, faulty or not as approved; see damaged, faulty or wrong rugs.
Wholesale is for hotels, retailers, importers, architects and developers.
The minimum is 1,500 m² per enquiry, about 16,146 sq ft, which you can mix across designs, sizes and weaves [[CLIENT TO CONFIRM]]. For smaller quantities, buy through the shop, up to 10 of each size per order.
Prices are quoted in US dollars or rupees as the quotation states. Wholesale orders are not paid by cash on delivery.
Working lead times, counted from sample approval, are 15 to 30 days for machine-made rugs, 30 to 45 days for hand-tufted and flatweave rugs, and 90 to 150 days for hand-knotted rugs [[CLIENT TO CONFIRM]]. Large orders can be woven and shipped in phases. Custom colours are approved on a strike-off first. We can arrange a pre-shipment inspection and the export documents [[CLIENT TO CONFIRM]]. Delivery terms, import duties and taxes are set in the quotation; unless it says otherwise, the buyer pays destination duties and taxes, as in the shipping policy.
The quotation governs these. It states the point after which production cannot be stopped, what is refundable, and how faults are handled. Goods that do not match the approved sample or the agreed specification are corrected or credited at our cost [[CLIENT TO CONFIRM]].
