This policy explains how Persian Knots delivers rugs in India and abroad. It forms part of our terms of sale. The courier names, zones and rates below are working figures for the website demo and will be replaced with the final ones before launch [[CLIENT TO CONFIRM]].
We deliver to every serviceable PIN code in India, and by international express courier to most countries abroad [[CLIENT TO CONFIRM]].
Rugs woven in Iran cannot be delivered to the United States. US sanctions have prohibited the import of Iranian-origin carpets since 2018. The page of each Iran-made rug says so, and checkout will not accept a US delivery address for it. Our Persian-design rugs woven in India, Nepal, Turkey and Afghanistan are not affected.
Rugs in stock are dispatched within 2 to 4 business days of payment. For cash on delivery orders, that is 2 to 4 business days after the 25% advance is paid. Made-to-order sizes are dispatched after the lead time shown on the rug page.

These are estimates, not guarantees. Customs checks, public holidays, weather and remote PIN codes can add time. You receive the courier's name and tracking number by email on the day your order ships, and you can follow it on Track order.
Couriers charge by weight: either the actual weight of the parcel or its volumetric weight (length × width × height in centimetres, divided by 5,000), whichever is higher, rounded up to the next half kilogram. Because a rolled rug is long and light, the volumetric weight often applies. Checkout calculates the exact charge for your rugs and address before you pay.
The minimum order for delivery outside India is $200 [[CLIENT TO CONFIRM]].
International orders are sent delivered at place (DAP). Our dollar prices do not include the import duty, VAT, GST or other taxes charged by your country, or the courier's fee for clearing them. The courier pays these to customs when the rug arrives and collects them from you on delivery, or before it, as their process requires. If they are not paid, the courier may hold or return the parcel, and the return cost may be deducted from your refund.
At checkout we ask you to confirm that you understand this. As a rough guide at the time of writing, and subject to change:
We cannot advise on your personal tax position. Please check with your customs authority or the courier if the amount matters to you. International orders are exports from India and carry no Indian GST.
Delivering with duties paid in advance (DDP) is not offered at present [[CLIENT TO CONFIRM]].
Every rug is rolled, never folded, wrapped for transit and sent as its own parcel. Couriers deliver to the door and may ask for a signature and photo identification. Please check the outer packing before you sign; if it is badly damaged, note this on the courier's delivery record, take photos, and tell us within 48 hours [[CLIENT TO CONFIRM]].
The courier makes several attempts and contacts you by phone. If a parcel cannot be delivered because the address is wrong or nobody is available, it returns to us and we will arrange redelivery at cost, or refund you less the shipping both ways.
For cash on delivery orders refused at the door, we refund the 25% advance less the actual forward and return shipping [[CLIENT TO CONFIRM]], as set out in our payments policy.
Contact us as soon as possible. We can change the address before the rug is dispatched. After dispatch, changes depend on the courier and may cost extra; a change to a different country is not possible once the parcel has left.
