What the weave is, what it's made of and where it came from.
Hand-tufted
Wool pushed through a backing with a tufting tool, then sheared to an even pile.
Marble Veins is a near-solid rug in deep teal, with darker green and navy running through the pile like the veins in polished stone. The blend of 70 percent wool and 30 percent viscose gives it depth: the wool reads matt and the viscose catches the light, so the colour shifts as you walk around it or as daylight moves across the room. It is hand-tufted with a dense, even pile that feels soft underfoot. It suits a living room with pale walls, a bedroom or a dining room, and the 6 ft round works in a hallway or under a small breakfast table.
Tufted in Bhadohi on a cotton backing, then sheared flat and finished with a latex coat and a second backing cloth so it lies still on a hard floor. The viscose is tufted in narrow streaks between the wool, placed by eye, so the veins look random but stay evenly spread across the rug.

Bhadohi and neighbouring Mirzapur, on the Ganges plain between Varanasi and Prayagraj, form India's largest hand-knotting region, and the Bhadohi hand-made carpet carries a geographical indication. Most rugs are knotted in weaving families' homes on upright looms, then brought to town to be washed, clipped and finished.

It shifts between green and blue depending on the light. The viscose streaks give it real depth. Soft and dense underfoot.

Ordered on a Monday and it was in our apartment the next week. The colour is exactly as shown.

A beautiful rug, but the viscose shows footprints and vacuum lines. We brush it with our hands and it looks perfect again.
