Aurora Abstract is a composition of overlapping cobalt-blue and saffron-gold planes on a charcoal ground, cut through with fine lines that look drawn with a ruling pen. The wool pile is hand-tufted and sheared at two heights, and the viscose used for the lines sits slightly lower with a soft sheen, so the pattern shows as texture as well as colour when light falls across the rug. It brings strong colour to a plain living room, and it works under a dining table in glass or pale oak. Sizes run from 4 × 6 ft to 8 × 10 ft, all tufted to the same pile height.
Tufted in Bhadohi, where workshops that once made only knotted rugs now also tuft modern designs. The pattern is drawn onto a cotton backing stretched on an upright frame, the wool is punched through with a hand-held tufting gun, and the pile is then carved by hand along every line of the drawing.

Crafted by the weavers of Bhadohi
Bhadohi and neighbouring Mirzapur, on the Ganges plain between Varanasi and Prayagraj, form India's largest hand-knotting region, and the Bhadohi hand-made carpet carries a geographical indication. Most rugs are knotted in weaving families' homes on upright looms, then brought to town to be washed, clipped and finished.
