A weaver reads the design off squared paper where one square is one knot. The square below is one square inch of this rug, drawn at its real density.
80knots per square inchFine
Citrus Patchwork is a patchwork of vintage-style panels in citrus yellow, turquoise and magenta, each carrying a faint traditional pattern that has been washed back. The bright colours are balanced by the worn surface, so the rug is lively without being loud, and it works as the one colourful piece in a neutral room. It is hand-knotted at 80 knots per square inch in wool and sheared low, which makes it easy to vacuum and comfortable under dining chairs. It brings colour to a living room, a bedroom or a dining room, and comes in 5 × 8, 6 × 9 and 8 × 10 ft.
Knotted near Jaipur and then overdyed and washed in the town's finishing yards. The panels are knotted as a single rug from a patchwork cartoon rather than cut and sewn together from pieces, so the rug stays flat and strong along every join and will not open at the seams.

Every hand-knotted rug comes with a certificate of authenticity that records its design, size, materials, where it was woven and its knot count: 80 knots per square inch.
Hand-knotted rugs are made one at a time, so the size, the colour and the edges can differ slightly from the photographs. That is the mark of the hand, not a fault.

Jaipur has made rugs since the nineteenth century, when carpet workshops were set up in the city's jail. The villages around it now knot heavy village designs and weave cotton dhurries on pit looms, and the town's dyers and finishing yards give rugs their strong colours or their softened, washed look.
