Konya Prayer Kilim is a flat-woven wool kilim with a stepped arch in crimson, sage green and indigo, the shape of a prayer niche, above a field of small hooked motifs. It is light, reversible and lies flat, which makes it a good small rug for a bedside, a study or a narrow entrance, and it hangs well on a wall because it weighs so little. The strong colours need only a plain room around them. It comes in 3 × 5 and 4 × 6 ft.
Woven in the villages around Konya on upright looms. Prayer kilims are made in small sizes, with the arch at the top end, and each colour is woven in its own section of the row, leaving the slits between colours that are typical of Anatolian kilims.
