Nigde Gallery Runner

Nigde Gallery Runner has an ivory field with small indigo and rose flowers repeated along its length, in the style of the long gallery carpets of central Anatolia. The pale ground brightens a dark corridor, and the small repeat looks complete at any length. It is hand-knotted at 90 knots per square inch in wool. It suits a long hallway, an upstairs landing or a gallery wall, and comes in 2½ × 10 and 2½ × 12 ft, the two longest runner lengths in the collection.

Woven in Uşak in western Turkey. Gallery carpets were made long and narrow for the corridors and halls of large houses, and the weavers keep the pattern even over the full length by checking it against a measuring cord at every repeat of the flower row.

Every hand-knotted rug comes with a certificate of authenticity that records its design, size, materials, where it was woven and its knot count: 90 knots per square inch.

Hand-knotted rugs are made one at a time, so the size, the colour and the edges can differ slightly from the photographs. That is the mark of the hand, not a fault.
