What the weave is, what it's made of and where it came from.
Flat-woven
Woven flat on a loom: no pile, and reversible, so it can be turned over to spread the wear.
Rajasthani Chevron is a bold flatweave: nested chevrons in scarlet and ivory with olive-green lines, repeated across the whole rug so it reads as movement rather than as a single motif. It is woven in cotton, so it is light, reversible and washable, and it lies flat enough to sit under a bed or a sofa. The strong pattern suits a child's room, a living room with plain upholstery or a bedroom. The 2½ × 6 ft runner fits a narrow corridor or the floor in front of a kitchen counter, and the 2 × 3 ft size works at a door.
Woven near Jaipur by dhurrie weavers who often work in pairs on wide looms. A chevron is made by shifting each colour one warp thread along with every row, and the weavers keep the count by eye rather than from a drawing, so the points line up across the full width.

Jaipur has made rugs since the nineteenth century, when carpet workshops were set up in the city's jail. The villages around it now knot heavy village designs and weave cotton dhurries on pit looms, and the town's dyers and finishing yards give rugs their strong colours or their softened, washed look.
