Mahal Vintage

Mahal Vintage has the look of a rug that has spent fifty years in a family house. The crimson field, navy cloud bands and gold highlights are knotted at 70 knots per square inch, then the pile is sheared low and the rug washed to soften the colours unevenly, so some areas look worn back to the knots. The effect suits rooms that mix old and new: a vintage rug under a modern sofa, or a large rug in a dining room with a painted table. It is the one Persian design in the collection offered up to 10 × 14 ft, for large living rooms and open-plan spaces.

Knotted near Jaipur and then finished by a workshop that specialises in vintage washes. The rug is sheared close in stages and washed with stone and water until the colour lifts, a step that is done by hand and checked after each pass so the wear looks natural rather than uniform.

In India: dispatched in 2–4 working days and delivered by courier in 3–5 days. Delivery is free on orders over ₹20,000. Cash on delivery is available on orders up to ₹1,00,000: pay 25% online when you order and the rest to the courier.

Every hand-knotted rug comes with a certificate of authenticity that records its design, size, materials, where it was woven and its knot count: 70 knots per square inch.

Hand-knotted rugs are made one at a time, so the size, the colour and the edges can differ slightly from the photographs. That is the mark of the hand, not a fault.
