A weaver reads the design off squared paper where one square is one knot. The square below is one square inch of this rug, drawn at its real density.
300knots per square inchHeirloom
A pale, quiet rug: blush-pink scrolling vines and small palmettes on an ivory ground, with sand-beige outlines that keep the pattern soft rather than busy. Nain rugs are known for fine knotting, and this one is tied at 300 knots per square inch in a 70:30 blend of wool and silk, with the silk tracing the finest lines of the drawing. The short pile shows every detail and suits a bedroom or a formal sitting room where the rug is seen more than it is walked on. Please note that this is an Iranian-made rug and cannot be delivered to the United States.
Woven in the Isfahan region of Iran, where the town of Nain gave its name to a style of very fine, light-coloured rugs in the twentieth century. The white wool is spun thin and knotted on cotton warps, and silk is worked into the outlines by the most experienced weaver on the loom.

Every hand-knotted rug comes with a certificate of authenticity that records its design, size, materials, where it was woven and its knot count: 300 knots per square inch.
Hand-knotted rugs are made one at a time, so the size, the colour and the edges can differ slightly from the photographs. That is the mark of the hand, not a fault.

Isfahan and nearby Nain have been centres of fine Persian weaving since the Safavid court of the seventeenth century. Their rugs are known for very fine knotting, clear drawing and pale grounds, with silk to outline the pattern. Iranian-made rugs cannot be shipped to the United States.
