What the weave is, what it's made of and where it came from.
Flat-woven
Woven flat on a loom: no pile, and reversible, so it can be turned over to spread the wear.
Senneh Boteh Kilim has rows of small paisley, the boteh, in charcoal, ivory and rust, woven flat in fine wool. Senneh kilims are known for the fineness of their weave, which gives a smooth, almost fabric-like surface and lets the small motifs stay sharp. It is thin enough to lay on top of a fitted carpet or under a bed without raising it. It suits a bedroom, a study or a living room with a leather sofa, and it comes in 3 × 5, 4 × 6 and 5 × 8 ft.
Woven in Panipat to a design from Senneh, now Sanandaj, in western Iran. The boteh are woven in slit tapestry, each colour worked in its own small section of the row, and the fine wool weft is packed tightly so the pattern shows as clearly on the back as on the front.

Panipat, north of Delhi, has been a weaving town for generations. Its workshops dye yarn in the town, weave flat rugs and dhurries on wide handlooms, and braid jute and cotton into round rugs by hand, alongside the town's large textile-recycling trade.
